Robert Laney is pleased to announce the release of his new book, Involuntary Reroute. Most flyers think the most comfortable seats on a plane are the most expensive. Surprisingly, BUSINESS & FIRST CLASS seats are often less than most coach fares. INVOLUNTARY REROUTE tells the story that forever changed the travel industry & what most airlines DON’T want you to know using owner discounts, hidden city ticketing and other forms of fare trickery.
Involuntary Reroute reveals the origins of airline deception while reliving a young entrepreneur's journey that turned a controversial idea into an international enterprise. Every form of airfare trickery is tested and discussed, ranging from the famed hidden city airline ticket to travel agent IDs to travel agency ownership and everything else in between. If you’ve ever wondered how the smartest travelers consistently fly first class cheaper than coach, then Involuntary Reroute is a must read.

About the Author:
Robert Laney has been regarded as a top authority on airline deception and airfare trickery for over three decades. At age 19, Laney was recruited by airlines and private investors to dispose of unsold premium cabin seats while avoiding cannibalization. In 1998, Laney launched the world's first on-line booking site offering first class discounts built on airfare trickery, combining hidden city tickets with contract fares. In 2002, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) named Laney one of their Faces of the Future, awarded to travel industry leaders under the age of 30. After receiving billions in federal aid post 9-11, airlines changed their tune towards discounting strategies and Laney fought vigorously to defend traveler rights.
Laney has been a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune and has been referred to as one of the "fathers of hidden city tickets". In 2018, Laney published Involuntary Reroute, a memoir of his experiences with airlines while attending Babson College, turning an idea into an international enterprise.
