Digital Reissue Series Honors the Music Legends of the Label

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Dec. 10, 2021 - PRLog -- HighJohn Records was born in 2002 at the intersection of luck, fantasy and passion, following a chance meeting between label owner Robert Auerbach and Johnny Tucker at The Long Beach Music Festival in 1999. Now, twenty years and seven releases later, Auerbach reflects and celebrates the accomplishments of his label with the launch of this reissue series.

For Auerbach, the music business is deep within his DNA. His father, Art Auerbach, was the Bay Area attorney-turned-club owner at the helm of The Jazz Workshop during its heyday in the sixties. All the jazz greats played Art Auerbach's club at one time or another. Despite his father's untimely passing at the young age of 39, Auerbach's family entrepreneurial influence extended in another direction via his stepfather's business, creator of the world-famous Original Tommy's Hamburgers, based in Los Angeles. Auerbach's primary vocation is an executive role in the burger business, but his avocation is undeniably the music business.

Following freshly on the heels of the label's most recent release, the internationally-acclaimed 75 and Alive, by Johnny Tucker feat. Kid Ramos and The Allstars (Blue Heart Records / HighJohn Records, August 2021), HighJohn Records comes full circle on the launch of this reissue series with another album by Tucker, Why You Lookin' At Me. "It all started with Johnny, and so it is only fitting to begin the digital collection series with him. We have found great synergy through partnering with the Blue Heart Records label for 75 and Alive, and look forward to continuing that relationship with this new series. Johnny Tucker's 75th birthday was worthy of celebration, and we think 20 years in the label business is, too," says Auerbach.

For Blue Heart Records partner Sallie Bengtson, there was an immediate kinship with Auerbach from the very first discussion about the release of 75 and Alive. Bengtson reflects, "Bob and I share a true passion for supporting, preserving and sharing the legacy of the blues; not just the music, but especially and even more so the musicians who shaped the history of America's indigenous music. HighJohn Records has captured some very important music history, in both audio and visual formats, and it is a distinct honor for Betsie Brown and me to represent the catalog with the launch of this series."

HighJohn Records Reissue Series, Vol. 1: Johnny Tucker Why You Lookin' At Me will be released January 21, 2022. "Do The Rufus," a track from the album, will be available on the
Blind Raccoon & Nola Blue Collection, Vol. 4 beginning in January.
