Maya Mitra Das will promote her books of poetry and short stories in the anticipated book fair.

Author and poet Maya Mitra Das joins the Frankfurter Buchmesse Book Fair this year with her two poignant and reflective books, “Silhouette of Time” and “Rhythms Primeval.”

“Silhouette of Time” is the author’s first collection of short fiction. The book contains intriguing tales that take the readers on wildly imaginative journeys to exotic and, sometimes, alien landscapes. It introduces them to infinitely curious moments in time, space and memory.

Amazon reviewer Jessica Wright says this about “Silhouette of Time”: “Maya’s style of writing is extremely appealing and easy to read. The stories are captivating, each character is lovely, and the writing flows so gracefully that it’s easy to read through and difficult to put down.”

In “Rhythms Primeval,” the author spins verses that plumb the alchemy of primeval moons and mist-wrapped mountains — delving deep into the realm of personal myth. Spanning the arc of ecstasy and despair, her poems explore the boundaries of human loneliness and the healing power of love.

Amazon reviewer F. M. Ayers says this about “Rhythms Primeval”: “Maya Mitra Das paints with words. Each poem takes you somewhere. There is a lightness to her work. I can honestly say I haven’t enjoyed reading poetry more than this collection.”

Maya Mitra Das was born in India and came to the U.S. in 1973. She studied internal medicine and pediatrics in India, England and the United States, earning her M.D. and Ph.D. She received her training at Downstate Medical Center and State University Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

She completed two fellowships — one for the department of hematology on oncology at U.C.L.A. Medical Center and the other at University of California San Francisco for radiation oncology. She currently serves on the medical staff at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California, working with sickle cell anemia in children.

Mitra Das’ poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous anthologies. Her poems have been featured in the anthology, “Tuesday’s Poetry,” and two of her narrative poems have been anthologized in “What’s in a Name.”

Her fiction has appeared in the anthologies, “Tremors: Short Fiction” by California Writers and “Insight, Hindsight & Flights of Fancy.” She has also authored several scientific publications.
