Baseball base in Xiaoshan opens to the public

The game between Chinese and Japanese baseball clubs at a baseball base in Guali town, Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou on July 18 marked the base's opening to the public, local media reported.

Covering an area of about 4.67 hectares, the baseball base not only includes a standard baseball field, but also a multiple-purpose field for baseball, softball, and 11-a-side football, as well as other supporting facilities.

Two days later, the 13th China University Baseball and Softball Championships, attended by more than 1,000 university students, will be held at the baseball base.

Holding such a high-profile event is a valuable opportunity for Guali to test the base's hardware facilities before hosting kabaddi and martial art competitions during the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Last year, Guali was recognized as the special town of Chinese martial arts and also the training base of the General Administration of Sport.

To date, Guali has 5,000 fans of martial arts and all of the 75 villages administered by the town have established a team consisting of local villagers to practice tai chi every day.
