Summary List PlacementGoldman Sachs just hired an equity researcher from UBS to be a senior internet analyst at the firm, Insider has learned.
Eric Sheridan is leaving UBS, where he was a managing director in equity research covering the US internet and interactive entertainment sector, according to a source familiar with the move. A nine-year veteran of UBS, Sheridan covered 17 companies in internet advertising; e-commerce; online travel; social networking; and video games.
A spokesperson for Goldman Sachs confirmed Sheridan's hire as a tech analyst focusing on internet companies. He will start in July.
Prior to UBS, Sheridan spent nearly three years at hedge fund Citadel as a portfolio manager. He led the firm's investment team focused on telecom, cable/satellite, media, and internet and leisure.
His hire comes more than three months after Heath Terry, who had been with Goldman for more than a decade and was the technology, media & telecom business unit leader for global investment research, departed for Third Point Ventures, the investment firm belonging to billionaire Daniel Loeb.
Representatives for UBS declined to comment.
