OTEN Medical Helping Hospital Staff Deliver Safer COVID-19 Patient Care

Conserve PPE, keep IV lines off the floor, and limit staff exposure

EL PASO, Texas - April 14, 2020 - PRLog -- Today OTEN Medical, a nurse and Veteran owned company, announces the launch of an Indiegogo campaign to help provide nurses with a tool that helps organize IV lines outside of a COVID-19 patient room, reducing PPE use and staff exposure.  To help in this sudden crisis, the company created two products, the iLine and iLine Select.  They help organize IV lines outside of COVID-19 patient rooms and organize IV lines for patients that are on gurneys receiving care in Emergency Room departments.  While the product is not a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), it is helping to conserve PPE and limit staff exposure

In a recent interview with local El Paso ABC news, Ernesto Holguin Founder and CEO of OTEN Medical explained the positive use both the iLines and iLine Selects are having in hospitals dealing with COVID-19 Patients.  "My fellow nurses and healthcare staff across the nation need more PPE STAT," exclaimed Ernesto Holguin RN.  "The CDC standard practice of PPE for highly contagious patient exposure is such that staff puts it on right before they enter a patient's room.  Upon exiting room, they discard the PPE.  However, the demands for PPE are so immense, that the staff has to repeatedly reuse them throughout the day.  What's even worse is that they are reused for many days.  Of course, they do not want to do this, but they have no choice as there is a mass shortage," stated Mr. Holguin.  Isolation techniques for PPE use has changed during our COVID-19 crisis.
