New Texas Symphony Orchestra season finale concert includes first-ever performance of Symphony No. 3 by Quinn Mason, inspired by four Dallas bridges: The Margaret McDermott Bridge, the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Footbridge, Klyde Warren Park, and the Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge.
DALLAS - June 14, 2018 - PRLog -- The New Texas Symphony Orchestra - the premier community orchestra of Dallas - presents its season finale concert "Bridges: Around Town," featuring the world premiere of local composer Quinn Mason's Symphony No. 3 "Bridges of Dallas," Sunday, June 24, 3:00 p.m. at the Moody Performance Hall.

The new four-movement work was inspired by the bridges of Dallas: Margaret McDermott Bridge, Klyde Warren Park, Ronald Kirk Bridge, and Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The NTSO commissioned Dallas composer Quinn Mason, a recent gradate of North Dallas High School, to write a symphony that reflects the uniqueness of their beauty and design.

"When Cathy Brown approached me about creating a new work based on four notable bridges in Dallas, I was beyond excited and sort of intimidated," Mason said. "Here was an opportunity to write about a wonderful and beautiful city. I grew up in Dallas and know the city quite well. In composing this work, I've decided that this is not only a symphony about landmarks in Dallas; It's a work that reflects the soul of Dallas itself."

Mason is currently studying composition with Dr. Blaise Ferrandino at Texas Christian University. He previously worked with Dr. Jordan Kuspa at Richland College and also studied with Dr. Winston Stone from the University of Texas at Dallas. Among Quinn's accomplishments in his young career, he was recently named one of three winners in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's young composer's composition contest. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra  commissioned Mason to compose a new symphonic work to be premiered in fall 2019. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3WX-OZjUnU&feature=youtu.be

About the NTSO -  The New Texas Symphony Orchestra (http://www.ntso.org/) is an all-volunteer, non-profit performing arts group under the baton of Dr. Kathryn D. "Cathy" Brown, who founded the NTSO in 2004 with a two-fold dream that provides amateur musicians an opportunity to play in a full orchestra setting and to share with audiences the excitement and quality that comes from music performed by those who play purely for the love of it. The NTSO will be celebrating its 15th anniversary during the upcoming 2018-18 concert season.
