Partners Planehook and Opango announce online lessons to prepare commercial drone flyers for the written exam.
SAN ANTONIO & DALLAS - Aug. 18, 2016 - PRLog -- With less than two weeks from the implementation of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's long-awaited commercial drone regulation, flyers of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems look forward to passing their airman's knowledge test and starting their businesses. "Test-takers will have 60 questions to answer in two hours," stated Planehook Aviation Services president David Hook. "Our lessons give future remote pilots an edge when taking their test." Hook's experience includes over 4,100 hours of flying and 35 years as a licensed flight instructor. His company holds a Section 333 exemption and regularly flies its two licensed camera drones.
"Yes, we want our clients to pass the test, but it's more than that. We want them to know and master the aeronautical knowledge that will help them to be savvy and safe remote pilots," added Planehook's president. Each lesson concludes with an online quiz that uses the FAA's style of questions and answers. The minimum score to pass the test is 70 percent. The areas tested in the written exam are:
· Regulations,
· Airspace Classification and Operating Requirements,
· Weather,
· Loading and Performance, and
· Operations — including Aeronautical Decision Making and Emergency Procedures
"We provide the lessons over a wide range of devices," says Tom Allen of Opango, Inc. "Clients will have both strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their aeronautical knowledge. That's why we offer a menu of lessons to cover the material. If someone feels they don't need help preparing for the regulations portion of the test, they can choose not to take that lesson. This way they get the help they want instead of being forced to pay for a whole package. And if they want to take all of the lessons, that's their choice. We even offer a free lesson so those interested can determine if the lessons work well with their style of learning."
