Starting on September 9th, Chicago Sun-Times readers will have more to look forward to on Sundays with the launch of Splash, a new weekly section covering the hottest trends in Chicago fashion, dining, real estate and high-profile charitable events.

Starting on September 9th, Chicago Sun-Times readers will have more to look forward to on Sundays with the launch of Splash, a new weekly section covering the hottest trends in Chicago fashion, dining and real estate as well as the city’s high-profile charitable events. Splash will enable readers to get caught up on the latest happenings from across the city and suburbs while allowing them to plan for their week ahead. Splash will be available to readers wherever they are on their iPad, mobile phones and online. Additionally, Splash will appear as a 24-page publication distributed inside the Chicago Sun-Times and dozens of suburban publications.

Led by Splash Editor Susanna Negovan, the new publication took shape in response to the growing demand for local society and style information. The launch of Splash makes the Chicago Sun-Times the only major Midwest newspaper to offer readers a weekly dose of local society and style in a dedicated Sunday magazine style format. The digital experience includes dozens of photo galleries, event recaps, local fashion stories and more, updated daily and weekly. The Splash publication is a robust weekly complement to Daily Splash, a digital and print daily product that debuted in the Chicago Sun-Times in May 2012.

“Producing a 24-page society publication on a weekly basis completely changes the model for this content category in our city,” said Michael W. Ferro, Jr. Chairman of Wrapports, LLC, owner of Sun-Times Media. “Combining the volume of Chicago’s civic and philanthropic events with the speed of a daily news organization enables Sun-Times readers to get fresh and timely information about happenings around town with unparalleled breadth and depth.”

“We are pleased to continue to build value for our readers on Sunday and every day of the week by introducing new local content initiatives,” said Timothy P. Knight, CEO of Wrapports, LLC, and Publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times. “Our Splash and Daily Splash products, combined, bring more than 40 pages of new content to our weekly readership of 2.25 million people.”

“Chicago’s social and philanthropic community is one of the most prominent in the nation,” said Susanna Negovan, Editor of Splash, “I’m thrilled to be leading the creation of a new local product that captures the spirit of our city and suburbs in a way that is beautiful, interesting and consistently relevant.”

Join the Splash launch event at Fashion’s Night Out at Saks Fifth Avenue Chicago (700 North Michigan Avenue) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012. Attendees will get an advance look at the premiere issue of Splash.
