Red Hat Adds Business Solutions to Open Source Architecture

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the availability of Red Hat Exchange (RHX). RHX is a new service that extends Red Hat's Open Source Architecture strategy to include integrated business application solutions from open source partners built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss platform software. Customers now have access to leading business solutions from fourteen Red Hat software partners ranging from customer resource management and business intelligence to messaging and collaboration.

All solutions are purchased, delivered and supported via a single, standardized Red Hat subscription agreement with consolidated billing covering the complete application stack. At the RHX web site, customers have access to application profiles, user ratings and reviews, free trials and online purchase options for all applications. Red Hat will coordinate with ISV partners while providing customers with a single point of contact for all support issues throughout the application stack. In addition, RHX may be purchased through a select set of Red Hat's Value-Added Reseller Channel partners that can also provide additional services in support of the RHX offerings.

The goal of our Open Source Architecture strategy is to offer customers flexibility and choice. RHX supports this goal and redefines the traditional business software experience by making it simple to evaluate, test, deploy and manage complete open source solutions, said Donald Fischer, Vice President of Online Services at Red Hat. The assembled partner solutions are some of the most innovative in the industry and share the same value system as Red Hat when it comes to delivering an excellent customer experience at a great value.

RHX partners and solutions include technology leaders in content management, customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, messaging and collaboration, business intelligence, databases, backup and recovery and systems monitoring. RHX launch partners include: Alfresco, CentricCRM, Compiere, EnterpriseDB, Groundwork, Jaspersoft, Jive, MySQL, Pentaho, Scalix, SugarCRM, Zenoss, Zimbra and Zmanda.

When customers can minimize the number of number of vendors they are dealing with and the associated number of support contracts, they can reduce the complexity and often the cost associated with managing workloads," said Al Gillen, Research Vice President, System Software at IDC. Red Hat has taken a step to address this complexity for its customers."
