42nd International Symposium On Forecasting Dates, Venue And Speakers Announced

MEDFORD, Mass. - March 10, 2022 - PRLog -- The annual International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF), hosted by the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), will be held in Oxford, England, this year from July 10-13. Integrating academic research into forecasting practice, the ISF draws the world's top forecasters and researchers, as presenters and participants, to unveil and discuss the latest advances in the profession.

The forecasting community's premier international conference, the ISF showcases the full scope of forecasting sectors. This year's event features forecasting-focused topics on macroeconomic forecasting, judgemental forecasting, electricity demand, inventory control and supply chains, forecast communication, machine learning, tourism, information technology, and forecasting for public good, among many others.

"The symposium provides a platform for leading forecasting professionals to reveal their insights into the field. With a stimulating scientific and practitioner agenda, and plenty of networking opportunities, ISF 2022 will be a truly memorable event," says John Boylan, general chair of ISF 2022 and professor at Lancaster University.

The biennial Arnold Zellner Memorial Keynote Address, named in honor of the late professor emeritus at the University of California, San Diego, and Nobel Prize laureate, will be delivered by Massimiliano Marcellino, Bocconi University.

Other notable speakers include Ruud Teunter, University of Groningen; Mihaela van der Schaar, University of Cambridge; George Wright, Strathclyde Business School; Johanna Ziegel, University of Bern; and the International Journal of Forecasting Editor's Invited Talk presenter, Yael Grushka-Cockayne, University of Virginia.

In addition to the academic speakers, the 42nd ISF will present the ISF Forecasting in Practice Track to meet the professional development needs of business-forecasting practitioners. Forecasting professionals and industry experts from Ghent University, Kinaxis, NorthFind Management, SAP, Satori Partners, Tesco and Washington State will deliver this unique and practical program. In conjunction with the ISF, the fifth IIF Summer School, a two-day course that provides in-depth analysis of a cutting-edge topic in forecasting from an ISF-invited speaker, will be offered July 9-10 at the same venue.  This year's topic is Time-series in Healthcare: Challenges and Solutions, taught by Mihaela van der Schaar.
