iDenfy launches its Secretary of State business search to supercharge KYB Compliance in the US

The new addition to iDenfy’s Business Verification platform will help companies access all SOS database records in one place

-- iDenfy, a leading Lithuanian RegTech company specializing in identity verification and compliance solutions, has released a major upgrade to its Know Your Business (KYB) verification platform, which is the new Secretary of State (SOS) business search feature. This AI-powered built-in tool enables businesses to verify any U.S.-registered company instantly using official SOS filings data from all 50 states in order to get a full picture of any company if it’s operating legally.

Today, business identity fraud continues to be a major threat to global markets. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), organizations lose an estimated 5% of annual revenue to fraud, which is more than $1.5M per fraud case, with many schemes involving fake or misrepresented companies during the onboarding process.

The Secretary of State (SOS) portal in each state is the official database that holds and maintains business registration records, such as a company’s legal status, ownership structure, filing history, and compliance standing information. Until now, in order to verify this information, it has often required numerous outdated or fragmented state website results. iDenfy’s latest update entirely eliminates that challenge by centralizing and automating the process within one unified platform.

With iDenfy’s SOS verification solution, users can simply use the API or open iDenfy’s KYB dashboard and search for a company by its name, state, or registration number. This sort of automation allows to receive an instant report pulled directly from the relevant Secretary of State database. The system collects key details, including the company’s current legal status (active, inactive, dissolved), formation date, entity type (LLC, Corporation, etc.), tax identification number, registered address, and the names of its governing persons or stakeholders, such as directors, as well as owners.

iDenfy doesn’t just retrieve the data; it also helps to interpret it. For example, if a business submits onboarding information that doesn’t match the official filing, iDenfy flags it immediately as a potential risk. The new update is able to access more than 180 global corporate registries, criminal background checks, AI-powered risk scoring, and continuous monitoring any needed changes in a business’s status. Whether it's a mismatch in ownership details, an expired registration, or missing annual reports, these indicators are highlighted clearly in the downloadable PDF summary report, which makes the review process easier and more reliable for compliance officers.

iDenfy’s SOS search tool has to offer even more, especially when automatically cross-checking company records against other compliance sources, such as sanctions lists, adverse media databases, and the IRS for U.S. tax ID (EIN/TIN) verification. This integration helps users to create a complete risk profile from a single interface, something that would typically require several disconnected software and manual research. Additionally, the SOS data refreshes in real time, meaning that clients never rely on outdated filings or wrong results.

The updated SOS business search is especially relevant for high-risk industries like fintech, crypto, and cross-border payments, where verifying a company's legitimacy is essential in order to avoid fines, fraud, or even reputational damage. Shell companies, inactive entities, or fake director names can now be identified early in the onboarding process, often before a contract is even signed. iDenfy's platform provides businesses a critical edge of security and confidence in spotting red flags that can go unnoticed.

For businesses operating under tight compliance requirements, this solution also saves valuable time and cost. Instead of hiring teams to manually verify documents or rely on outdated registries, users now benefit from one automated workflow. Getting audit-ready reports ready quickly helps speed up record review.

Domantas Ciulde, CEO of iDenfy, emphasized: "Businesses can be stuck wasting hours to search for state documents, dealing with outdated PDFs, and comparing data by hand. This tool changes that. Now iDenfy’s SOS search function can verify a U.S. company’s legitimacy in a few minutes, with data pulled directly from government records.''
