A contemporary stone artist known for pioneering Lithadelic Stonework is gaining recognition for a distinctive body of work that blends ancient dry-stone construction techniques with modern sculpture, land art, and site-specific installations.
The artist’s path began in the construction trades, working as a laborer while filling pocket notebooks with drawings, short stories, and buildable ideas during breaks. Over time, skills acquired through masonry work were applied to these concepts, gradually transforming sketches into physical stone structures.
In 2007, the artist established an independent practice, initially accepting a wide range of masonry projects before deliberately narrowing focus to natural stone work. This evolution continued until the practice centered almost exclusively on dry-stone construction, and eventually on artistic dry-stone forms.
Launching an independent business just prior to the economic crash presented significant challenges, but persistence through the downturn allowed the artist to refine a highly personal approach to stone. As the economy recovered, a recognizable signature style emerged, culminating in the unveiling of the first Lithadelic Sphere in January 2013, a milestone that helped define the artist’s reputation.
Today, the practice encompasses public sculpture, functional stone design, memorial works, and education. Activities include teaching DIY homeowners and aspiring contractors how to build stone patios and walls; creating major artistic works annually, such as mosaic patio features and sculptural installations; participating in land art festivals; and conducting specialized cairn-building workshops.
The artist is also known for constructing shrine-like, quasi-ancient structures referred to as Devy Wovy Cairn Houses, as well as designing stone benches, bird baths, and evolving sculptural forms carved from boulders. Custom memorial benches and cairn memorials are produced for private clients, blending symbolism with permanence.
Notable public commissions include a Cancer Memorial commissioned by a Boston-based research facility in 2024; a four-foot stone vase created for the Matilda Pfeiffer Museum in Arkansas in 2018; Lithadelic Sphere
The Fourth , commissioned by the Friends of Brookside Gardens in 2016; Squiggly Noodle, a 7.5-foot stacked-stone tentacle sculpture displayed at Stonehedge Gardens in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania; and The Lithadelic Tear Drop, commissioned by the City of Sculpture and permanently installed in Hamilton, Ohio in 2025.
Through a combination of education, public art, and private commissions, the artist’s work reflects a long-term commitment to timeless craft and continued artistic discovery
