Soundwall Music Camp Welcomes New Director Adam Schuman, Announces 2024 Camp Dates

Soundwall Music Camp, the renowned rock music camp established in 1993, is excited to announce the appointment of Adam Schuman as the new Camp Director. The camp also opened registration for this year’s session — which will run from July 21 to July 26 at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Adam Schuman, an experienced musician and educator, takes over leadership following the recent passing of John Xepoleas, who served as the Camp Director for ten years. Schuman has been a part of the Soundwall family as an instructor and brings a rich background in music performance and education. His career spans over two decades, featuring notable performances at events like Live 105’s BFD and Napa’s Bottle Rock Music Festival. He has also supported and opened for noteworthy acts — like The Killers, Modest Mouse, Filter, The Shins, Silversun Pickups, Alien Ant Farm, and Dredg, have toured both nationally and internationally.

In addition to his performance career, Schuman is the owner of Danville Music, a landmark in Northern California known for its excellent selection of electric and acoustic guitars. Since acquiring Danville Music in 2021, Schuman has expanded his influence in the music community, offering top-tier instruments and education to musicians of all ages and skills.

Soundwall Music Camp is open to students ages 12–17 who have a minimum of one year playing and study experience. This year, Soundwall Music Camp will host participants at the picturesque UC Santa Cruz campus, where attendees can expect a week filled with intensive music instruction, live performances, and the opportunity to connect with other music enthusiasts.
