Jasper Platz and Vaibhav Sharma Join G2 Venture Partners as Investors

Today G2 Venture Partners, a venture capital firm investing in transformative technology companies at their inflection points to build a sustainable future, announced the hiring of Jasper Platz and Vaibhav Sharma as Investors.

Jasper Platz brings over 12 years of founder and operator experience to his role as an Investor at G2 Venture Partners. His startup journey began in the early climate tech years working at Serious Materials, a low-carbon drywall company. In 2009, he co-founded Gen110, a residential solar company, where he worked closely with Sunrun to launch the first zero-down Power Purchase Agreement in the US. Gen110 was backed by Kleiner Perkins' Green Growth Fund and sold to SolarUniverse in 2013. Post acquisition, Jasper worked as the VP of Operations at SolarUniverse supporting a national network of installers. In 2014, he co-founded Tally, a credit card management app, overseeing every stage of the software development process. Tally’s innovative automated credit card debt manager continues to help many Americans save money on interest and pay back expensive debt faster. Jasper played a key role in raising over $90M in venture capital from Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, Shasta and Cowboy Ventures. His latest venture was Summon, a developer productivity app, that was backed by NextView, Haystack and Scott Belsky among others. Jasper holds a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of St. Andrews, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

"Joining G2 represents a return to my climate tech roots. I look forward to applying my operating experience to back exceptional teams focused on building a more sustainable future. As a former founder, I have a deep appreciation for the investors who supported my team in critical moments of the startup journey while also removing distractions when heads-down execution was needed. I hope to do the same for G2's portfolio companies," said Jasper.

Vaibhav Sharma joins G2 as an Investor. Previously, he invested in infrastructure assets at The Carlyle Group’s Global Infrastructure Fund, primarily working in the renewable energy and telecommunication sectors. Prior to joining Carlyle, Vaibhav was an Investment Banking Analyst at Guggenheim Securities where he worked on mergers, acquisitions, and financings in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT). Vaibhav holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

“I’m thrilled to collaborate with entrepreneurs working on technology-driven solutions that not only propel their businesses but also contribute to a more sustainable future,” said Vaibhav. “My journey in infrastructure investing has afforded me a unique perspective at the confluence of business and sustainability. The pivot towards sustainable tech and G2’s role in accelerating it aligns with my commitment to fostering sustainable growth.”

“We are proud to welcome Vaibhav and Jasper to our team as our newest Investors. Their unique perspectives will enhance our ability to support transformative technology companies at their inflection points. Jasper’s founder and operator experience, along with Vaibhav’s expertise in infrastructure investing will be great assets to our current and future portfolio companies,” said Valerie Shen, G2’s Chief Operating Officer.
