CASPER, WY / ACCESS Newswire / August 6, 2025 / Voltanio, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, today announced the launch of ten new public fast-charging stations across key cities and travel routes in Maine. This marks a significant step in the company's Northeast expansion strategy and reinforces its goal of improving EV access for both residents and travelers.

The new charging stations are now operational in Portland, Augusta, Lewiston, Bangor, and several nearby communities. According to Voltanio, each location was selected through a combination of EV ownership analysis, local driving patterns, and distance from existing public chargers. The company also coordinated with property owners and local governments to identify areas where chargers would offer the greatest convenience to drivers.
Each site includes DC fast chargers capable of delivering up to 150 kW of power. Depending on the vehicle, this allows most drivers to charge their batteries to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes. Voltanio says the goal is to minimize downtime and give drivers a practical option to charge while on the go.
"We want to make EV charging something that fits naturally into a person's routine," said a Voltanio spokesperson. "If we can offer charging in places people already visit, like retail areas, public parking lots, or near transit hubs, it becomes easier for them to adopt and rely on electric vehicles."
All charging stations feature on-screen navigation and QR code access for real-time charging status and digital payments. Voltanio is working to ensure that the user experience is streamlined and intuitive at every location.
In line with its sustainability goals, Voltanio has committed to powering as many of its stations as possible with electricity sourced from renewable energy. Several of the new stations in Maine are connected to regional clean energy grids, helping reduce the environmental footprint of public charging.
The company emphasizes that its Maine expansion is just the beginning. "This launch brings our total number of public charging locations in the Northeast to 34," the spokesperson added. "We have additional stations currently under development in New Hampshire, Vermont, and northern Massachusetts, which we expect to bring online in the coming months."
Voltanio is also in discussions with municipalities and private landowners to explore future partnerships focused on bringing charging access to rural and underserved areas.
"As more people make the switch to electric, they need to know the infrastructure is reliable and available," the spokesperson said. "That's what we're building, one charger at a time."
