DESCRIPTION:
TCS’s goIT engages students from diverse backgrounds to bridge the learning curve with STEM, Computer Science, Design Thinking, and Digital Innovation. The program offers an industry developed, customizable curriculum that teaches students 21st century skills necessary for a career in technology. Lessons cover topics like the innovation life cycle, rapid prototyping, design thinking, and more.
Since its inception in the summer of 2020, thousands of students across the globe have participated in TCS’s goIT Monthly Challenge. Students have used key principles from TCS’ flagship STEM education program goIT, to design a tech-based solution and submit a pitch video to the challenge theme. Each month, TCS partners with a globally-minded nonprofit to serve as our SDG ambassador alongside a monthly TCS customer co-host. Together, we have explored topics from ranging from gender equality to systemic racism all the way to protecting life under water. Teacher interest and student engagement in this monthly experience has been tremendous and continues to increase month over month.
In April 2022, TCS and co-hosts Edinburgh Remakery and the NBrown Group challenged students to create a digital innovation that diverts electronics from reaching local landfills. Ritvik G, of Scarborough in Toronto, created the winning app ‘E-Recycle.’ His innovation stood out for clearly addressing the issue of E-Waste, backed by sited and brief statistics, eye-catching design, variety of features, and creative future venture ideas. Volunteer judges from TCS were impressed with the caliber of entries, and it was a difficult decision, but ultimately, E-Recycle's scores shined at the top.
The goIT Monthly Challenge is a global initiative and is being rolled out across all TCS geographies in the coming months. Visit our goIT Monthly Challenge competition website to learn how you can involve your students or children in upcoming challenges: http://on.tcs.com/goIT-ENG
