Our ordering website does not contain any information for our customers related to the merger. What resources are available to our customers to understand the merger and obtain assurance from the president/CEO of our company?

It’s important that our eCommerce websites remain focused on revenue generation. However, transparency is important. Merger information has been posted on Officemax.com in the “About OfficeMax” section since the merger was announced. Two new content areas have recently been added to that page. The first is “Merger Updates,” where visitors can find the latest announcements pertaining to the merger. The second is “Latest OfficeMax News,” containing the latest news about our company to assure stakeholders that we continue to operate and compete independently.

I’m an account rep and am getting inquiries from my customers on the merger. Common questions include: “Are we going to adopt Office Depot’s practices of having a customer service center outside the U.S. and using contract drivers?”

It’s too early to speculate on what changes the proposed merger might bring to our combined business operations. The Integration Planning Teams will review these types of questions over the coming months. Until the transaction closes, OfficeMax and Office Depot will continue to compete as two separate companies. At OfficeMax, we remain committed to providing outstanding service to customers. Please reassure your customers that we will continue that commitment throughout the merger integration process.

Will Office Depot’s outsourced IT functions be brought back in-house in the new company? Or will OfficeMax’s IT functions be outsourced as well?

It’s too early to speculate on what changes the proposed merger might bring to our combined business operations. The Integration Planning Teams will review these types of questions over the coming months. Until the transaction closes, OfficeMax and Office Depot continue to compete as two separate companies.
