Item 8.01. Other Events.

Echelon Corporation announced today that Beatrice Yormark, its president and chief operating officer, recently suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and has taken an extended medical leave of absence. While her condition is still being evaluated, the company is hopeful that she will make a full recovery. During her absence, M. Kenneth Oshman, Echelon’s chairman and chief executive officer, will assume her day-to-day responsibilities.
