On October 19, 2006, Rite Aid Corporation issued a press release announcing that Rite Aid and The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. had each received a request for additional information from the Federal Trade Commission in connection with Rite Aid’s pending acquisition of The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) USA, Inc.  A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated herein by reference.
