Mav Kang Jr.: The Story of Success Backed by Determination to go Beyond Socio-Cultural and Psychological Limitations

Mav Kang Jr.'s journey to success is a tale of determination backed with a resolve to shine in a career path against all odds

There is no gainsaying that people from the East-Asian background often don't get much attention from Hollywood producers. It's no secret, however, that to be shot into the limelight of a blossomed career, one has to be quite persistent and try everything ranging from mainstream ways to the other extreme, unconventional ways.

Well, Maverick “Mav” Kang’s journey has a little twist to it. Born on December 13, 1991, in Casa Grande, Arizona, Mav Kang Jr. is an American actor, stuntman, and former active duty service member in the United States Navy. He started acting and modeling in 2019. Despite starting a career that late, Mav Kang Jr.'s resolve to be successful propelled him to push beyond all forms of limitation to become one of the most famed stuntmen and actors in the world.

On the socio-cultural front, Mav Kang Jr. is from a small town in Hawaii that seems to possess a stronghold over its inhabitants, keeping them from venturing out of it. But, determined to pursue a career even as a retired member of the US military having been enlisted as a Petty Officer Second Class, Mav Kang Jr. broke the socio-cultural barrier and moved out of his hometown in Hawaii. Today, he lives in Bangkok, Thailand, and pursues his passion away from the circle of 9 to 5, 40 hours per week jobs.

Mav Kang Jr. had had an extensive background in action and combat sports since he was 3 when he began learning and competing in motocross racing. At 13, Mav began studying and training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and participated in scuba/freediving and skydiving. All of which gave place to stunts and acting for the South-East Asian.

Since venturing into stunts and acting in 2019, Mav Kang Jr. has worked as a brand ambassador and affiliate for Vivobarefoot, Xion protective gear, and Suunto Thailand. He has also featured as a stunt performer and actor in 2021 movies such as Kotigobba 3, Finding Ohana, and RRR, set to be released in 2022. Additionally, Mav carried out the stunts in Real World/Road Rules Challenge, played the role of Plantation Worker in Extraordinary Siamese Story: Eng and Chang and Hippy in The Serpent, and was a stunt performer in Blood & Treasure Season 2.

Mav also featured in TV commercials for Oppo Reno 3 Pro, Cold-EEZE Defense Pro, Nestlé Extreme Mama Orange, CB12: workout with confidence, and Free Fire X DTAC. Not only has he exemplified the power of determination in being successful, but Mav Kang Jr. has also shown that it is never too late to set out on any career path and become the best at it.
