She then entered the six-year combined B.S.M.D. the educational program at the Howard University College of Medicine where she graduated with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and Summa Cum Laude.
Upon graduating from medical school in 1987, she went on to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine and cardiology at Howard University Hospital. Finally, she completed a one-year fellowship in echocardiography at the University of San Francisco, California at Moffitt Hospital.
With more than 20 years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
