Pleasanton, California Mar 6, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Livermore, CA. - Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Giulia Telli of the Civil Air Patrol completed her first airplane pilot lesson provided by Civil Air Patrol's NorCal Cadet Flight Training Program on Tuesday. She was the first cadet from Livermore's Tri-Valley Composite Squadron to be accepted into this flight training program.
Telli, a Civil Air Patrol member since September 2019, is a Freshman at Amador Valley High School where she plays in the school's jazz/concert band. She also participates in the school's track team.
When asked about her flight, Sergeant Telli said "Flying was thrilling! Between all the turns that tilted my entire standing, I could see the way the world worked from an almost detached view. But what really struck me the most was the detail in it all.".
NorCal Flight School provides Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadets with flight instruction and is designed to streamline the process for cadets to take their first flight without an instructor, called a solo. Cadets enrolled in this program learn in the same aircraft that are used for activities such as Search and Rescue and Disaster Response through Civil Air Patrol's Emergency Services Mission. The aircraft that Cadet Telli flew on Tuesday was a 2018 Cessna 172 with the advanced Garmin G1000 NXi flight system. Sergeant Telli is the Bravo Flight Sergeant of Squadron 156 and has held multiple staff positions for the squadron including Element Leader. Cadet Telli is also one of the founding members of the Squadron 156 CyberPatriot team which ranked in the top 15% of all teams in the national competition.
In addition to her school activities and leadership in Civil Air Patrol, Sergeant Telli volunteers her time to write news articles for a local news column.
