Teach to Lead to Create Systemic and Substantial Changes Against Racism in Education

Cleveland, Ohio Feb 9, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Helping Educators Be on the Right Sides of HistoryVirtual Summit 2021 is being powered by CHARP Education Consulting, a supporting organization of Teach to Lead, on April 23, 2021 - April 25, 2021. Teach to Lead is an initiative led by the U.S. Department of Education, ASCD, Teach Plus to steer systemic improvements to benefit student learning. The three-day virtual summit includes five general sessions with prominent keynote speakers, skills development sessions, virtual networking opportunities, and more. Geared towards Teach to Lead's guiding principles of embracing diversity, equity, and respect, the summit strives to promote excellence and innovation in teaching for all.

CHARPED's CEO Charesha Barrett said "the social injustices that transpired across the country this past year, brought to light that standing against racism is not enough. Our education system reflects our society, and we cannot let these imperfections in our society weaken our education and our learners. The team has been working hard to prepare a valuable and timely meeting experience for attendees to address these issues."

Recent events are forcing educators to question their practices and address the inequities that are occurring in their institutions. During this three-day free event, administrators, teachers, and students will network with other educators, share best practices, and develop actionable teacher leadership plans to dismantle racism in their schools, districts, and universities.

This year's summit will spotlight and advance the groundbreaking, teacher-led work that is currently happening across this country. The summit strives to share innovative ideas from all different educators and will feature DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) projects from various attendees' submissions, that will benefit attendees' schools, districts, or universities. Middle and high school students are encouraged to submit their DEI ideas, and pre-service teachers -those pursuing teaching licenses -are encouraged to submit their DEI poster presentations.

"This summit seeks to increase pathways and opportunities for teachers to exercise leadership while remaining in the classroom," said Barrett. "These summits elevate teacher voice to inform and develop policy and practice at the school-level and beyond. We expand existing efforts and create models to steer systemic improvements to benefit student learning. We look forward to convening a diverse group of educators who can lend a variety of experiences and perspectives to the Summit virtually this year."
