SAN DIEGO - February 1, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Elias and Joel Btesh, CEO and COO of the pet store DirtyDog's & Meow, announced today that the brand and its customers raised 6,695 pounds of pet food for local dog and cat shelters in the area.

Three animal shelters, Southern California Bulldog Rescue, Thrive Animal Rescue and Russell Rescue CA, are the recipients of the donations as part of their on-going relationship with DirtyDogs & Meow in exchange for only $1 per pound of food.

This is the second year for the drive-in which DirtyDogs donates 1 lb of food for every eligible item purchased (or 5 lb for three items). Customers were also able to give $5 for a 5 lb donation.

The 2020 drive more than doubled the amount raised in 2019 - a testament both to the commitment of DirtyDogs to local shelters and the increase of the public's interest in shelter animals as a result of the pandemic.

"We are amazed by this year's food drive results! It goes to show how much of an impact our community can make when we work together to help pets in need. We can't thank our customers enough for their donations," says Joel Btesh.

Founded in 2008, DirtyDogs & Meow is a family-owned and operated business that specializes in natural dog and cat food, cage-free grooming and self bathing. They believe in "Adopting Not Shopping" when it comes time to add a four-legged family member to your home and have created partnerships with local shelters to help encourage such behavior. In addition to customer discounts and offers, shelters that partner with DirtyDogs also receive a 5% rebate on all rescue referred customer sales.

Nicole Velazquez, Executive Director of Thrive Animal Rescue, a shelter recipient of the food explains, "We are so grateful to Dirty Dogs for choosing Thrive as a recipient of such a generous food donation! Thrive Animal Rescue's mission is to come to the aid of abandoned and discarded dogs of all breeds, ages and situations. By providing medical aid, love and support our goal is to place them in their final forever home. DirtyDog's support will help us achieve so many successful rescues in 2021!"
