Business experts and academicians discuss how China will transform its national economy to continue growth and momentum
CHICAGO - April 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Tom Manning, China expert and former CEO of Cerberus Asia, Capgemini Asia, and Ernst & Young Global Consulting Asia, will join panelists on April 2 at Tufts University's renowned China-U.S. Symposium, highlighting the theme of "Moving Forward." The Symposium, which includes four panels, four breakout sessions, and two keynote addresses, covers the most significant issues on Sino-U.S. relations.

Manning will be a featured participant in the business panel, titled "Innovation and the Future of the Chinese Economy," which will be held Saturday, April 2, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

The China-U.S. Symposium, a two-day academic conference, promotes relations between the two countries and increases the awareness of China's significance and importance as a business partner with the West. Last year's symposium, "Common Ground," covered a related topic, highlighting ways in which the interests of China, its regional neighbors, and the United States overlap.

"The many intersecting issues being presented at the Symposium will affect China and the rest of the world for years to come," said Manning. "During the panel, my colleagues and I will present our insights into how China's actions affects how Western companies do business - and how they must adapt to the reality of an innovative Chinese growth engine to succeed in the future."

Manning is a prolific thought leader, author, and speaker on China's increasingly powerful position in the global economy. He recently shared his insights at a March 2016 roundtable discussion at University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. The Chicago panel, "Competing in a China-Modified World," explored how China's actions, policies, and heightened level of original innovation will affect how the West does business in the coming years. He also participated as a panelist in the Commonfund Forum 2016 in February 2016, in a session titled "Is the China Growth Story Still Real?", commenting on how domestic companies must re-think their strategies as China's economy shifts from low-end manufacturing to meaningful innovation.

Manning has been widely quoted as one of the leading experts on China innovation and policy, noting that those in the West risk falling behind if they underestimate China's potential. He was quoted in a recent World Policy Journal blog post, noting that China has made strategic pivots towards game-changing original innovation, government focus on cultivating industry and the country's talent base, and China's leadership in STEM education. A prolific author, Manning has also recently been featured in Industry Week with his article, "China Technology Innovation Comes of Age." He was also the subject of an in-depth interview with Global Finance magazine, where the editors interviewed him on the nation's quiet innovation revolution.

The China-U.S. Symposium will take place Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 in the Barnum Auditorium at Tufts University.

Manning will also take part in Duke University's Duke-UNC China Conference on April 9.
