Steubenville, Ohio, United States - 01-27-2023 (PR Distribution™) -
Dr. Edward Picardi, a general surgeon with Trinity Health in Steubenville, Ohio, is currently in the final stages of preparing for an upcoming missionary trip to Africa. Going with the World Medical Mission Samaritan's Purse, the surgeon brings experience and expertise to those in need.
Most missionary trips have a slew of medical professionals making up the team traveling to a new country. Each volunteer brings a different skill set to the table, and the general surgeon is no different. Dr. Edward Picardi will be asked to provide various services during the trip.
Everything is set up and ready for him to operate similarly to what he’s used to back home. His role might change from day to day while in Africa, but it’s all about filling needs where he can to make everything run efficiently.
The mission trip gives back medically, but it also allows Dr. Edward J.S. Picardi to spread the love and care he has as a Christian. His Christian background has always played a major role in everything he’s done as a doctor. Giving back to the less fortunate and sharing his extreme knowledge and level of expertise has been a blessing dating back to his early professional career.
This is not the first time he’s worked with the World Medical Mission Samaritan’s Purse. He enjoys getting time to give back during certain times of the year as he plans for a break from his traditional practice.
Working with a group with the same religious beliefs can positively impact overall effectiveness. Not only will Dr. Edward Picardi have a chance to treat those in need, but he will also be able to create a bond with them through his faith. Even in locations where there’s a language barrier, having religious discussions helps to bring everyone together.
Working at Trinity Health is the latest stop for Dr. Edward Picardi as a licensed medical surgeon. He has also spent time in South Dakota and Iowa, working for several different hospitals along the way.
He has stayed passionate about Christianity throughout his professional career and shares that passion with his wife, Sandy. The two not only look at mission trips as a way to give back, but they volunteer locally as much as possible. The hope is to find more and more time to do that moving forward.
