New York, NY - March 14, 2025 - Professional dancer, choreographer, and educator Izzy Pereira continues to make her mark in the performing arts industry by securing key roles in international tours, high-profile performances, and elite dance education.
Most recently, Pereira played a key role in the development of dance-pop artist Tash Blake’s European Tour, serving as a rehearsal director and dance assistant to the choreographer. Her expertise has contributed to the tour’s creative vision, ensuring artistic precision and integrity throughout each performance.
Beyond her work in touring productions, Pereira is making a significant impact as an educator and choreographer. As a faculty member at Downtown Dance Factory, one of New York City’s premier dance studios, she trains over 150 dancers, shaping the next generation of performers. Her unique knowledge of both classical styles and street styles makes her an integral part of the studio. This May her choreographic work will take center stage in the studio’s annual recital series, where nine of her original dances will be performed across seven of the different showcase events.
In June 2024, she was selected as an emerging young choreographer and showcased her original work at Symphony Space as part of the Young Choreographer’s Festival 2024. She was one of fifteen individuals to be selected by a panel of industry professionals. Her work was reviewed in Dance Informa, where critic Kathryn Boland described it as ‘supple and reflective, but also strong and highly virtuosic.’
Moreover, Pereira’s versatility as a performer has earned her prominent roles in critically acclaimed productions. She was one of twelve dancers cast in Whole New World, a full-length contemporary dance production staged at the Winchester Theatre in Toronto, Canada. Her talent led her to a leading spot in the production, as she was selected for the only duet piece in the entire show. Pereira’s athleticism, professionalism, and performance quality made a lasting impact on the production of the show.
“Looking back, I see how each project, performance, and class has contributed to my growth as an artist. I’m proud of the milestones I’ve reached and even more excited for what’s ahead,” said Pereira.
With a passion for storytelling through movement, Pereira continuously pushes the boundaries of dance. Her signature approach combines physically demanding movement with deep artistic intent, emphasizing the expressive power of dance across multiple styles.
Pereira specializes in contemporary, jazz, and hip hop, though her versatility can be measured by her proficiency across all genres of dance, including tap, theatre dance, acrobatics, and ballet. Pereira continues to expand her work as a choreographer and performer, with upcoming collaborations and new projects across major dance hubs such as New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto
