Julianna Huang (Huang Fangqi, born Huang Huimei) is a Chinese writer born in January 2000, shaped by the cultural and psychological currents of the 2010s. Coming of age during a decade defined by acceleration and uncertainty, her formative years as a writer and designer unfolded alongside rapid digital expansion and shifting models of identity.
The year 2020 marked a turning point globally. As an undergraduate student studying Economics and International Trade in a China–U.S. cooperative program, the experience of the pandemic quietly redirected her intellectual focus. An early interest in astrology began to extend beyond the Earth toward a broader engagement with the universe — shaped over time by jazz and hip-hop, the law of attraction, reflections on presence and perception, and sustained exposure to literature, history, and philosophy, all of which accompanied her process of growing up.
Alongside its conceptual concerns, Dimension II remains anchored in lived experience. A constant presence throughout the book is the author’s dog — a family Pomeranian — whose companionship provides emotional continuity and grounding. Rather than serving as a sentimental detail, this relationship functions as a stabilizing counterpoint to the book’s speculative scope, reinforcing its attention to attachment, care, and everyday intimacy.
Readers may encounter the book with questions shaped by different stages of life. The author does as well. Written and completed in 2025, Dimension II articulates questions that have shaped Huang’s development from early 10s into current early 20s. The work revisits the uncertainties of growing not to resolve them conclusively, but to examine how those unanswered questions contributed to the construction of the self.
Dimension II unfolds in the form of a dialogue. Set in an alternate dimension, the book imagines a man who has lived through seven lifetimes on Earth and a dog as its two central voices. Through a series of letters and responses, they address questions sent from a growing adolescent at different stages of life.
Through its dialogic form, Dimension II creates a healing reading experience in which readers can reflect on relationships, challenges, and a way of approaching the possibility of God’s existence — imagined through voices from another dimension and a past beyond linear time.
Dimension II: I AM THAT I AM is now available internationally and can be purchased on Amazon, both paperback and e-book editions with global distribution.
