This August, the National Glass Museum in Wellington, Kansas unveiled the largest exhibition of American-made stretch glass in the country, and it is dazzling visitors through December 31, 2025. Featuring over 200 extraordinary examples from the Bill Crowl Memorial Stretch Glass Collection, this exhibit celebrates the beauty, versatility, and uniquely American heritage of iridescent stretch glass.

What makes this exhibit so special
Right at the entrance, visitors are greeted by a vibrant display of stretch glass in its most beloved and functional forms, including:
- Candleholders that shimmer with soft, glowing iridescence
- Elegant vases for flowers and interior decor
- Serving plates and bowls used historically for desserts and entertaining
- Center-handled servers perfect for pastries, hors d'oeuvres, and tea service
- Dining and decorative pieces for tables, mantels, weddings, and special occasions

A Treasure of Colors, Craftsmanship, and American Innovation
Stretch glass is completely Made in America — originally crafted between 1912 and the early 1930s and later revived by the Fenton Art Glass Company between 1980 and 2011. All pieces featured by the Stretch Glass Society (SGS) are authentically American-made, shaped by hand, and finished with the signature “stretch” iridescence that gives the glass its magical satin-like glow.
Visitors will experience:
- The largest stretch glass exhibition on display in any U.S. museum
- Over 60 luminous colors and 100+ hand-shaped forms
- Stretch glass from all nine original manufacturers of the 1920s
- Rare and reshaped pieces finished by master artisans — no two exactly alike
