Ramos succeeds Bryan Scofield, who will retire after 26 years of distinguished service with PALIG. Scofield will remain with the company in a part‑time advisory capacity to support the leadership transition and key strategic initiatives.
Since joining PALIG in 2016, Ramos has played a pivotal role in transforming PALIG’s Human Resources function into a strategic business partner. She has strengthened the company’s people strategy, modernized talent management practices, and built a high-performing team supporting operations across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Before joining PALIG, Ramos built a distinguished international Human Resources career at Copa Airlines and Nestlé, holding senior strategic roles across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Her experience spans leadership development, succession planning, performance management, and large-scale cultural transformation. Ramos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Human Resources from Madrid, Spain.
“Ana Melissa has been a driving force behind the evolution of our Human Resources strategy and a trusted partner to leaders across our organization,” said José S. Suquet, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Pan-American Life Insurance Group. “Her global perspective, sound strategic judgment, and deep commitment to our people position her exceptionally well prepared to continue strengthening our culture and advancing our mission to protect lives and build trust across the Americas. We are grateful for Bryan’s many years of service and leadership, and we are confident that Ana Melissa will continue to support PALIG’s long-term growth.”
Ramos will remain based in Panama and will travel regularly to PALIG’s headquarters in New Orleans and to other key markets across the region.
