Exowatt Wins Fast Company’s 2025 Next Big Thing in Tech Award

Company recognized for pioneering power solution for the AI era

Exowatt, a next-generation renewable energy company, has been named Fast Company’s 2025 Next Big Thing in Tech for its work developing and commercializing its flagship product, the Exowatt P3. This modular, full-stack technology delivers up to 24 hours of dispatchable solar power daily, which can be turned on or off as demand shifts.

The system captures solar energy as heat, stores it in a long-duration sensible thermal battery, and converts it to electricity on demand via a high-temperature heat engine. Designed for rapid, on-site deployment, it provides reliable, dispatchable power for energy-intensive applications such as data centers without years-long utility upgrades or reliance on diesel backup.

Fast Company’s annual program highlights technology driven innovations with strong potential to shape their industries, spanning sectors including AI, health, energy, security, and telecom.

“This recognition from Fast Company affirms that modular, dispatchable renewables are key to achieving true energy abundance for the AI-driven world,” explained CEO Hannan Happi. “Through factory-built units that fit into standard container modules, Exowatt has unlocked both economic viability and speed to market with a dispatchable solar solution that helps operators access round-the-clock dispatchable energy at a cost-competitive price.”

Over the past year, Exowatt’s momentum has accelerated. In April 2025, the company raised $70 million in Series A funding led by Felicis, with participation from 8090 Industries, Starwood Capital, MCJ Collective, MVP Ventures, GOAT VC, StepStone Group, and returning investors including Atomic and Andreessen Horowitz. Angel investors include Sam Altman and Leonardo DiCaprio.

P3 debuted at RE+ 2024, North America’s largest clean energy conference. Exowatt currently has a demand backlog exceeding 90 GWh from data centers, energy developers, and hyperscalers across the U.S., with multiple commercial deployments slated for 2025.
